I believe that direct audience engagement is important. As art can affect the ways in which people think, feel and understand, I question the logic of making art for those who seek to encounter it. As a result of this, I work in diverse public settings which in the past have ranged from the coal mines of Co. Roscommon to the roundabouts of Limerick City. With my art practice, I attempt to investigate how, why and when social cohesion is constructed. This investigation is influenced by the writings of Emile Durkheim and has led me to focus on many social constructions which may or may not create social cohesion. Recently these have included the Catholic church, internet spamming, motor ways and Victorian sports.

In addition to my personal practice I co-direct The Good Hatchery, an artist led initiative in East Offaly. The ethics of this initiative colour my modus operandi, and vice versa. Both would aim to experiment with sociological and cultural infrastructures in a very hands on manner.
