Paul Murnaghan constructs devices which act as catalysts towards rendezvous, ritual and installation. His practice is research based and explores connective phenomena that occur within particular mythologies and belief structures. These same concerns are inherent to Murnaghan's curatorial practice and when viewed as a whole his efforts are a continuing attempt to access a universal, subliminal dialogue.

Murnaghan often makes use of the psychology of advertising, rumor and social structures to deliver concepts. His projects rarely happen without other people and the generosity of exchange. This process has led him to advertise his memory capacity for sale (Memorious - 2006) or to publish a contract detailing the commission of an artwork, that would never be seen (Auto Da Fe - 2007). His work is realised in a multitude of spaces and forms, the more tangible of these include sound, video, drawing and installation.

Murnaghan is a Dublin based artist, he was Artistic Director/curator of 5th Gallery at Guinness Storehouse for the duration of its existence (2000-03). Recent curatorial projects include 'Synesthesia Sat' as part of Birr Arts Festival, Co.Offaly. At this point in time he is developing a new body of work for exhibition at Platform in Vaasa, Finland and The Lab, Dublin, in early May 2008. For more information please visit www.paulmurnaghan.com
